When to send it

  • The day an order is handed to the courier
  • As soon as the tracking number and courier partner are known
  • If the expected delivery date moves because of a delay
  • When an order ships in more than one parcel

Tips for approval and replies

  • Say “shipped” or “dispatched” plainly in the first line — it tells both the customer and Meta’s reviewer what the message is about.
  • Put the tracking number in the body as a variable and use a URL button to your own tracking page, where the customer can enter it.
  • Don’t add “while you wait, see our new arrivals”. Any cross-sell in a shipping update makes the whole template marketing.
  • If you ship through several couriers, make the courier name a variable instead of submitting one template per courier.

What should a WhatsApp shipping update include?

The customer’s name, the order ID, the courier, a tracking number and the expected delivery date. Anything more — offers, product suggestions — risks the template being categorised as marketing.

Can I put a tracking link in a WhatsApp template?

Yes, as a full link on your own domain or as a URL button. Avoid link shorteners such as bit.ly; they are a common reason for rejection and hide where the link leads.
